Heilende Träume (Healing Dreams) by Günter Bermann is a strange, never-released-before album. It was an attempt to create another new age record, same as those found today in bins with cheapest CDs in second-hand shops and loved by Günter in the early 1990s. But Günter wasn't probably the right person to record muzak devoid of any character, and, therefore, he recorded Heilende Träume. At first glance, it has all the points from a checklist for an average new age album: nice digital sounds, recordings of rain and the sea. It's hard to tell what caused the fact that it is something completely different, it is a bit too repetitive, but in a mechanical way. It is naive but there is some kind of anxiety, awkwardness, sadness which distinguishes this album from thousands of other new age albums. Dont ask how we found it, but as soon as this tape landed on our deck, we fell in love with these simple, charming but strange recordings.
