about

In 1987, shortly after graduating from his studies in Sydney, Yoshi Hatake started working in a small recording studio. Inspired by recordigs of Brian Eno, Hiroshi Yoshimura and Morton Subotnick, he recorded his sole album at nights. The album was titled おくのほそ道 (Narrow Road to the Deep North) after one of the works of his beloved poet - Basho. In 1988 he was back home in Osaka ready to publish five recordings that were a late addition to Japanese ambient and enviromental music scene of the 1980s with a more experimental twist thanks to the longest track - 山中. He decided to self-release the album on cassette via his own newly-created label Kichi Recordings. Most of the tapes were given away to friends and it was real miracle that 30 years later we found one of the copies in a bin on a flea market in Berlin thousands of kilometers from Japan. Bewitched by the recordings we decided to start Readymade Sun and release these stunning recordings once again. Thanks to our Japanese friends we were able to collect necessary permissions and find a master tape. Hopefully you'll love this long forgotten gem of ambient music as much as we do!
